Water damage can be a huge issue, especially in the wintertime, and even more so in New England. One of the most prevalent signs of water damage is water stains that you sometimes see on ceilings. Let’s take a look at some of the signs of water damage, as well as some of the things you can do to remedy this situation.
How Do I Know I Have Water Damage?
Water damage can be tricky because typically you would not bear witness to the beginning stages. Your attic would most likely be the first place that you notice this, as it is directly under the rooftop. The water will then move and start to show as water stains on the ceiling of your rooms. From here, you can start to see leaks, which can, in turn, become much heavier damage, causing issues to the structure of your home. You can also notice this on the ceiling underneath bathtubs and showers sometimes, which shows signs that you may have a plumbing and/or waterproofing issue in and around the tub.
What Can I Do To Stop Water Damage?
Water damage can be difficult, as you may not see it at first. This being said, the worst thing that you can do is ignore the problem, as if you do, the leaks can cause damage that can not be fixed, and therefore, you may have to get an entirely new roof. Mold and other bacteria can start to grow under your roof, and this is where the structural issues come into play.
One of the things you can do to take care of this is to call your local roofing company. If they can not get to you as soon as possible, you will be able to put some buckets in place to catch the leakage and wait until an expert can come out to help.
